Xaloy receives Regional Impact Award

Company investing $1.75 MM with Pulaski plant reopening

(Dec. 3, 2021) PULASKI, Va. – Xaloy’s decision to reopen its plant in Pulaski is earning it accolades. The company, a leading manufacturer of plasticizing screws and barrels for a wide range of injection and extrusion applications, received the 2021 Regional Impact Award through Onward New River Valley during a ceremony Nov. 30.

The Regional Impact Award recognizes and celebrates companies who are investing and creating jobs in Virginia’s New River Valley. Xaloy was honored for creating 35 jobs and investing $1.75 MM in Pulaski County. Three other companies were also recognized: Moog Inc., Oransi and The Patton Logistics Group.

“We congratulate Xaloy on winning a 2021 Regional Impact Award and thank them for their commitment to Virginia’s New River Valley,” said Katie Boswell, executive director of Onward New River Valley. “Xaloy’s decision to reopen their manufacturing facility in Pulaski County shows that the workforce in our region is of the highest quality.”

Xaloy relied on many former and long-time employees to retool about 25,000 square feet of shopfloor at the plant, 102 Xaloy Way, and return the twin-barrels production to the town of about 8,600 in southwest Virginia.

“It made me very proud to represent Xaloy at this event,” said Xaloy operations manager Randy Elliott, who accepted the award. “It is very gratifying to have your efforts acknowledged.”

Xaloy was acquired earlier this year by Altair Investments, which quickly made the decision to reopen the facility. The 100,000 square-foot factory had sat nearly idle on 30-plus acres after plans were announced in September of 2016 to consolidate operations from three facilities into a single manufacturing location in Ohio. That meant shedding nearly 140 jobs in Pulaski; the twin-barrel production also was shifted to Austintown, while the casting business continued with a skeleton team of about a half-dozen people.

“We were excited that we could take that important step of re-opening of our plant in Pulaski,” said Kamal Tiwari, Xaloy’s chief executive officer and Altair operating partner. “This was not only an opportunity to bring back jobs to the area, but it also allowed us to expand our manufacturing capabilities and meet the growing needs of our global customers.”
